Big Red Directory is a detailed and extensive reference tool for the places people visit across the United Kingdom: more than 2.3 million venues in some 27,000 towns and villages in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Every venue has its opening times, address and phone number, with reviews and photos, and every town page carries richly detailed local facts: sunrise and sunset, the climate through the year, transport, schools, health services, parks and landmarks, broadband, air quality, flood risk and population data
How the listings are kept
The listings are compiled, checked and kept current through a collaborative effort. The venues themselves add and correct their own details. Authoritative live data arrives from a variety of well-established data streams and is matched to the listings we already hold rather than copied in blindly. The directory's own editors review what comes in, merge duplicates and verify the doubtful cases before they are published
